Local Tips on Things to Do
Riverboats Music Festival Weekend

We are so excited that Riverboats Music Festival is on again in 2024! This article provides some ideas of other things to enjoy the Riverboats Music Festival Weekend – 16 – 18 February 2024.  This year the festival is back in the shady Aquatic Reserve,  Echuca.   This is an easy walk from the historic Port of Echuca and the numerous cafes and restaurants in High Street.   It’s also easy walking distance to Green Pedal Cycles, located in Murray Esplanade, where you can hire an E-Bike to explore Echuca Moama for an hour or two over the festival period.

Avoid disappointment and get your tickets – they are sure to sell out very soon!

1.    Take a walk or bike ride over new Echuca Moama Dhungala Bridge

The new Dhungala bridge connecting Echuca to Moama opened in April 2022.  The original bridge was built 143 years prior, so it really was time for an upgrade!  We are loving cycling by E-Bike from bridge to bridge – the Murray River views are stunning!  It’s well worth taking a walk, ride or booking an E-Bike Tour to check it out!  You’ll find the bridge by walking/cycling alongside the Murray River from Riverboat Dock – downstream to the Victoria Park boat ramp.  All in easy walking distance from the Riverboats Music Festival.

2. Book a Green Pedal E-Bike Cycling Tour or hire a bike

You’ll see so much more of Echuca Moama by joining a Green Pedal Scenic Cycling Tour.  This leisurely 90 minute E-Bike tour takes you through the Historic Port of Echuca, to Riverboat Dock, around the Scenic Trail and over both the new and original Echuca Moama bridges. Tours are scheduled for Monday to Saturday, with additional tours scheduled for Riverboats weekend.   Book online ahead of your visit to maximise your enjoyment on the Festival weekend.

Alternatively, hire an E-Bike or standard bike, and you’ll have the freedom to come and go from the Festival without a worry about parking.  And outside of the festival hours you can explore the fabulous tracks and trails in Echuca Moama. David provides a map and some great suggestions on bike rides to some of the most picturesque river views in our region.

3. Flash Fairlaine

Flash Fairlaine was established in 2021 and is a unique and fun experience. There are various tour options to enjoy.  One suggestion is to take a 20 minute tour of Echuca in style in one of the magnificently maintained classic 1959 Ford Fairlanes. You will turn heads as you tour the beautiful township in gleaming old world style.

4. Visit Customs House Gallery and the Foundary

Customs House Gallery is bursting with amazing local art!  Customs House and the Foundary are located in Murray Esplanade Echuca -nearby to the Echuca Port Ice-creamery.  Echuca Moama is home to many talented artists, and these galleries are definitely worth a visit.

5. Recyclability Op Shop

The Recyclability Op Shop (previously No. 4), a social enterprise of Community Living & Respite Services, has relocated to 3-5 Murray Valley Highway.   Riverboats weekend is always a big weekend for the Op Shop – we know they would appreciate your support in their new location.

6.   Check out Echuca’s newest restaurants

OPA is an exciting newer restaurant serving authentic and traditional Greek food.  Every year it delights Echuca’s Riverboat Festival guests and we know you will love it too!  Check out their mouth watering menu on their facebook page and book in lunch or dinner. OPA is on the corner High Street and Radcliffe Street, a very short walk from the Festival.  Find out more.

Sadly Shebani’s closed in 2022, but in it’s place is Niko Niko serving amazing Japanese cuisine.  We recommend you check it out.

Zombrero’s has also opened in Echuca, and is located at 456 – 464 High Street, opposite Johnny & Lyle (one of the places for coffee in Echuca!)

 7. Pre-order a grazing box from the Riverboats Hamper Store

There are fabulous new grazing box and hamper choices in Echuca Moama.  We highly recommend that you pre-order a grazing box for the Festival weekend, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the music.  This great new initiative for 2023 supports local businesses.
