Bike Riding & Scenic Walks
1. Green Pedal E-Bike Hire, Bike Hire and Guided Cycling Tours
Echuca Moama has beautiful river scenery and one of the best things to do when you visit Echuca is to hire a bike and explore. There’s also many Echuca Moama attractions that you can ride to on a bike!
Green Pedal Cycles has E-Bikes for hire, including 2 hour hire, half day hire, full day hire and multi day hire. Standard bicycles are also available. Green Pedal bikes are perfect for a cruise along the Murray River tracks and trails. Bike hire includes use of helmet, bike lock and a complimentary map. Tour Guide, David will help you plan a self guided tour of Echuca Moama, and also offers guided tours Monday – Saturday. During peak times including school holidays and most Saturdays, you will find Green Pedal in Murray Esplanade Echuca, near the Echuca Wharf. 2. Banuyle State Forest – ride or walk
The Banuyle State Forest is one of the “secret local spots” and provides kilometres of walking and cycling tracks and trails. Escape into nature and enjoy the 360 degree nature views! Ride or walk and soak up the stunning views of the Echuca wharf and the Murray River. 4. Billabong Ranch
Billabong Ranch, located on the corner of Tehan and Glanville Road, just outside of Echuca, has fun things to do, inside and outside for the whole family.
Activities include horse riding, camel rides, indoor rock climbing wall, table tennis, outdoor ten pin bowling and more.
Open 6 days a week during school holidays, and on Saturdays outside of holiday time. Call ahead to check opening times. 03 5483 5122.
5. Mini Golf
Rich River Golf Club has a fabulous mini-golf course. All equipment is provided, and bookings are not required. This is a perfect holiday activity for all ages. Open 8 am – 10 pm, 7 days per week. Rich River Golf club also serve delicious meals.

Science at play! A fun experience for the curious. Visitors say the Augmented Reality Climbing Wall is one of the best and most fun experiences at Twisted.
School term: open Wednesday – Sunday. 3 session times (1.5 hours each) 10:00-11:30am, 12:30-2:00pm, 2:30-4:00pm.

8. Flash Fairlane Limo tour
A limo Tour in a “Flash Fairlane” is sure to create special holiday memories. For a very reasonable price you can enjoy a 20 minute cruise for up to 4 people, in a magnificently maintained classic 1959 Ford Fairlane.
9. Golf Driving Range
Experience Rich River Golf Club’s 17 bay driving range, an efficient and affordable way to practice your golf swing, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Open 7 days a week from 6am until late. Closed on Mondays from 6am – 8am.
Paddlesteamers and History of the Murray River region
10. Port of Echuca Discovery Centre
If you enjoy history, a visit to the Echuca Port of Discovery Centre is well worth putting on your to do list. The history of the paddle steamer days and river trade is fascinating. With free entry, this is something you can’t miss. They also serve excellent coffee!
11. Book a Paddle steamer cruise
A Murray River paddle steamer cruise, is one of the most popular attractions in Echuca Moama. There are several different options to choose from, including:
- Echuca Paddlesteamers
- Murray River Paddlesteamers
Book a cruise on the PS Canberra, or PS Emmylou and enjoy the captain’s commentary and river views.
The PS Canberra 1 hour day cruise gives passengers a glimpse of the redgums and wildlife. Children are also encouraged to have a go steering the 108 year old paddlesteamer and are awarded with a free skippers certificate on completion of the cruise. The regular cruise schedule is Wednesday to Sunday from 10.15am, 11.30 am, 1.15pm and 2.30 pm. (check website for most up to date schedule).
Enjoy a 2 hr lunch cruise on the PS Emmylou.
A cruise on one of Echuca’s paddlesteamers is a great way to also learn of some of the early history of Echuca Moama.
12. Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum
Echuca’s Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm museum is an amazing collection of memorabilia. Rated on TripAdvisor as Echuca’s #1 Attraction, put this on your list. The Beer Shed is located in Maryann Road Echuca. Open weekends and School Holidays, or by appointment. Host, Neil Thomas will ensure you have a memorable and entertaining time.
13. Guided Electric Bike Tour
A Green Pedal E-Bike tour is a great way to combine a little bit of easy exercise, with learning about some of the local insights, past and present. Options include the 90 minute Echuca Scenic Tour, or allow up to 3 hours for the Echuca Bike To Winery Tour which includes complimentary wine tasting at St Anne’s Winery in Moama. Don’t miss this authentic local experience. Suitable for couples, groups and solo travellers.
Watersports
14. Stand-Up Paddle
Echuca Moama is a great location for paddle boarding. We recommend booking with Jess from Echuca SUP. Stand Up Padding Boarding (SUP) is a great way to spend a couple of hours. It’s relaxing and a lot of fun, paddling down the river, enjoying the river sights and sounds of the birds.
15. Water-Ski on the Murray
Echuca Moama is home to Brett Sands Watersports. Brett is a world champion bare foot water skier and for many years has operated a ski school. You can book ½ or full day lessons with Brett Sands. Pre-book this experience as this is a very popular holiday activity.
16. Canoe Hire
You will find Canoe Hire located near the Victoria Park Boat Ramp in Echuca. Great family fun!

Day trips and half day trips from Echuca
26. Rochester Silos and other attractions
Rochester is a delightful town on the Campaspe River, 20 minutes, Melbourne side of Echuca. Take a short drive to see the stunning Silos at 18 Ramsey Street Rochester. Jimmy D’Vate, one of Australia’s well known mural artists painted the Azure King Fisher and the Squirrel Glider in July 2018. These are local threatened species. More recently, December 2021, he painted a third silo featuring the Duck-Billed Platypus, which is also an endemically threatened species.
While in Rochester visit Iddles Lane, to view a sepia toned mural of the former Detective Ron Iddles and his family. Detective Iddles had an outstanding conviction rate of 99%.
27. Kyabram Fauna Park
Kyabram is an easy 25 minute drive from Echuca, and is the home of Victoria’s newest accredited zoo, the Kyabram Fauna Park. Open 7 days a week from 10am – 5pm, this is an experience that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
28. Cactus Country
Cactus Country, located in Strathmerton Victoria, is about an hour’s drive from Echuca Moama. This unique (award winning) tourist attraction is Australia’s largest Cactus garden and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am – 5pm. It’s a great place to capture amazing photos, and fun fact – you can bring your dog! Enjoy a little piece of Mexico on the Murray!
29. The Depot – Deniliquin
Deniliquin is less than an hour’s drive from Echuca Moama, on the Cobb Highway. The Depot is an impressive collection of historic vehicles and memorabilia. Open 7 days a week from 10am – 4pm. Highly recommended!

The Information Centre is now located in Murray Esplanade Echuca just near the Star Hotel. The friendly staff are always very obliging. Not only do they help with accommodation bookings, but they will also help you plan your activities, with many things to do, to maximise a memorable holiday experience in Echuca Moama. Free all day parking is available where the Visitor Information Centre was previously located in Heygarth Street (near the roundabout and bridge that takes you to Moama).
Where is Echuca?
Echuca is located in Victoria, Australia. Echuca is an easy 2½ hour drive from Melbourne, and a similar distance from Albury. Echuca is a border town – just across the river is the delightful town Moama NSW. You can travel by train from Melbourne to Echuca. There’s plenty of accommodation in walking distance from the train station.
If you haven’t heard of Echuca before you might be wondering how you pronounce it! So here you go – “Eee- Choo- Ka”.
Why is Echuca famous?
Echuca is most famous for the Murray River, Paddlesteamers, Houseboat Holidays and water skiing. It is also well known for it’s amazing weather, fabulous cafes and restaurants and wineries, and art galleries.
